Sweet & Savory Cafe was founded on the idea of exploring moments of joy through food. Our cafe was set up to welcome our 'Sweeties' to experience the most intimate dining pleasures within our four walls.  SnS has taken a little piece of the town’s center, in the hopes to restore the downtown area.   This process has been financially, emotionally, and physically draining but worth every smile.
The design of the cafe has always been about sharing special moments with special people, through food and beauty.  So, we set up our 20-seat space with just that in mind. Our only goal was to touch a little piece of your heart and soul. Therefore, we never thought of a set-up outside of our 600 sq ft dining space. We built SnS in the center of town with the thought to address all the handicaps as we grew. We never imagined these would be the very things that could help to close our doors.

• We are located on a lot that has no back/delivery entrance
• We are on a lot that has limited side-walk space
• We are on a lot that has no outdoor dining
• We are on a lot that has an ancient HVAC system
• We are on a lot that has expansion limitations

And then Covid hit.....Since March 2020, we have closed our doors to inside dining.  We closed our doors due to the fear of spreading Covid. We understood all too well the thought of saying 'It's not going to be me'. We have lost some very close family members to Covid throughout the year. 

While planning our new course of business, we knew that we did not have the proper ventilation to allow people to come into our space., so we pivoted to curbside.  Although curbside is not enough to support all of the overhead, we never stopped. We are fighting to stay around to offer our community more smiles. But greater than that...we want to be apart of the story that is told about this little diverse town and the women that made a difference in it.
During our eight years at 821 Merrick, we have seen many businesses come and go.  It has only been through lots of prayer, determination, pivoting and the help from the community, regulars, and family that we have managed to get through it.  Behind these walls, there are three generations of women pushing to give you one of the best bites ever.  Agreed, the bites are more special while sitting across from us at a table. But love can be shared long distance.
So for now, we have transitioned to curbside.  We hope that you can join us, even if only for a small cup of something yummy.  Until then, be safe and stay healthy. Until we are across from one another again...
