Sweet & Savory Café is a local, family-owned cafe offering extraordinary service, outstanding products and magical moments. We promise to provide a fun, creative and relaxing environment to our surrounding community. Our goal is to offer a sense of community, a place for people to get great food, something to sip or just relax.
At Sweet & Savory Cafè, we trust that building a community around art, books, food, and drinks foster connections and growth. We want to make Sweet & Savory Cafe your home away from home where you can come end enjoy "more than just great coffee."
The idea was born back in 1922: the year my grandmother was born. A chef, she was my greatest inspiration. During her life, she brought joy to so many through the experience of food. We wanted to honor her, by continuing her legacy of bringing joy through food. So, we thought ‘Sweet & Savory’.
In the spring of 2014, we found the perfect location for the cafe in our very own community. We set out to accomplish two goals in the process of establishing Sweet & Savory: 1. Invest in giving back to our community and its future.
2. Inspire others to stay positive and work towards their dreams.
In April 2014, we started the renovation of the Sweet & Savory Cafe building. After several contractors, inspections, long hours, sweat, laughter, and tears ….we opened Sweet & Savory Cafe in December of 2014!
AT&T and two local Long Island organizations, 3D's Aftercare, Inc and Toddlewood Studios, partnered to develop a digital literacy program. The platform will help to expose children to an industry that has a history of enormous diversity gaps. This program will help to provide hope while shaping the future of our youth. SnS is proud to be a part of such an incredible program to further help close the gaps.
As a small business, we are faced with so many obstacles. For centuries, black-owned, woman-owned, and capital deprived has been a triple enmity, of which, contributes to the overall lack of success of black America. We are excited to be a part of a program that identifies the need to support people, communities and most important the attempt to push change and balance.
The past 2 years have been challenging for the world! Small businesses have been greatly impacted. After 2 years, sales are low, huge supply-demand imbalances, and labor shortages. SnS is has pivoted in effort to keep our doors open. Visit our online shop and remember we are still curbside!
